Well for
starters - if you're going to Bonaire - you don't want to fly United.
They have no transfer point past Customs in Puerto Rico so you have
to clear Customs and drag ALL your bags out to the next terminal to
the check=in
counter and basically start over. Stick with Jamaican, US Air or American.
ALWAYS check the local rules on both the wearing
of gloves and dive knives. there are some hefty fines involved if you
have either of these when you shouldn't
Do your best to air out and dry your great before
leaving. You have a dry day for yourself and you'll find you are much
closer to making that maximum luggage weight with dry gear. The wet
stuff can add up to 10 lbs - and $80 extra airline fees.
Download this dive
travel checklist - so you don't
miss anything. It is a pretty comprehensive list for all types of diving
and probably has lots of stuff you don't need for EVERY trip or EVERY
dive so just cross off what you don't need.
Do you get seasick? I skip the high price for
the "name brand" motion sickness medicines. At your local Wal mart
Pharmacy
they carry Meclizine (the
active ingredient in these brand name meds). You don't need a prescription
and it's under $10 for 100 tablets!
Do you take an antihistimine to keep your ears
clear? I use a new "non drying" formula of Sudafed. it's a blue gel
cap and I take only one. Keeps my ears dry, but not my throat.
